Intensive Supervised Study Supervisor - Special Ed
Responsibilities include:
- Provides academic assistance, gives group instruction and assistance as prescribed by the special education teacher.
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assist teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their need, interests, and abilities, provides students with study guides/needed work.
- Guides independent study, make-up work, and remedial work set up, as assigned by the special education teacher.
- Administers, scores and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as directed by special educational teacher for individual students.
- Modifies/Accommodates work as needed when working in general education classroom or brings to special education teacher for modification/accommodations.
- Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work, as assigned by the special education teacher.
- Maintains a daily record of assistance provided to individual students with and without IEP’s.
- Keeps students on task and supports organizational growth of students.
- Supervises students in the classroom and other locations such as, during lunch, assemblies, recess, field trips or other events.
- Promotes students’ self esteem and teaches citizenship, social skills and respect for others.
- Disciplines misbehavior through approved methods and reports problems to the teacher or principal. Knows and implements the appropriate steps in a student's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) where applicable.
- Alerts the special education teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Serves as chief source of information and helps any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Follows written and oral instructions without constant supervision.
- Seeks directives from special education teacher when not needed in scheduled locations
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information as is expected by fully licensed teachers.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children and the core subjects at the grade level to which employment assignment is made.
- Operates equipment such as computers, copiers and other office machines for instructional purposes.
- Participates in in-service training programs, as assigned.
- Heavy lifting, bending, and stooping to assist students, as needed.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
Requirment: 48 credit hours from and accredited college, or, 1000 hours of pervious experience in a school or working with children, or, pass the Para Pro.
